Friends of the Library
Who We Are
The Friends of Vail Public Library exist to assist the town librarian in promoting and improving library services, materials and facilities; in seeking donations, gifts, and bequests to the library; in providing volunteer support for the library’s programs; in raising funds for immediate and long-range projects; and, in encouraging the broadest possible use of the library’s facilities, materials and services.
The Friends meet the last Thursday of every month at 4:30pm
Friends’ activities include planning and hosting cultural speakers and programs at the library, enriching and enhancing existing library services, assisting with the annual Book and Bake sale during the Fourth of July holiday and working to increase use of the library through public awareness.
The town librarian is in charge of the board, but one member of the board shall volunteer for a years’ term as chairman to run the meetings with an agenda. Another member shall volunteer to keep minutes and distribute them to board members in a timely manner after each meeting. After a year, new volunteers from the board will be asked to fill these positions, if needed.
