Ask A Librarian
"I do not mean to suggest that our handsome, newly enlarged library is to be a headquarters of busy bookworms, old and young, routinely absorbing knowledge by the hour while birds sing outside and the Mets fight it out for last place in the National League. On the contrary, a good library is a joyful place where the imagination roams free, and life is actively enriched."

—John K. Hutchens

Shakespeare’s ROMEO AND JULIET, Here and Now. The story of the young star-crossed lovers - - he was 13 and he not much older - - is well known, but audiences are often less familiar with the adults who fail them - - their parents, priest and nurse, to name a few. The balcony scene is well known as well, but much stunning poetry and drama exist throughout the play in scenes less famous.

Join us to explore the many aspects of this classic play. You may discuss, read out loud or just listen.

Sally Frostic, the group’s convener, is a veteran teacher of honors English Literature and honors Humanities. She has an M.A. from the University of Chicago in Theology and Literature. Her overall emphasis is on enjoyment, discussion and reading brief excerpts together - - and learning about the playwright and his world.
